MANAGEMENT SEMINAR AND TRAINING

Bangalore Seminar

The response was overwhelming with over 70 participants for the Management Seminar held at Bangalore from 6-8 July. The highlight of the Seminar was the new FCR Act 2010 besides subjects such as Indian Resource Mobilisation (IRM), Right to Information Act and Management of Children’s Home.

Rev. John Kirubakaran (FMPB) with his rich experience in fundraising for FMPB ably presented his perspective on Indian Resource Mobilisation. Mr. Joseph Mathai (Habitat for Humanity) who also spoke on IRM helped the participants understand the critical need for the “ASK” principle.  Ms. Manju George (Chartered Accountant) handled subjects related to finance. There were relevant and difficult questions asked regarding “paying bribe to get things done” etc. Mr. Joshua Amirtharaj (ISM) introduced a new topic ‘Right to Information Act’ (RTI). With a strong grounding in the concepts and practices of RTI, he translated the ideas in simple terms.

Another new subject introduced was managing Children’s Home. This subject assumed importance especially in the backdrop of several reports in sections of the media about alleged mismanagement and illegal running of Homes. The Government had come out with stringent rules and regulations on managing these homes. Prof. S D Jeyakumar a senior Director at CIM spoke on the subject. He has helped many homes in the preparation of Children’s Home Operation Manuals.
