MANAGEMENT SEMINARS:
CIM’s Management Seminar was held in Chennai from 24th to 26th May. The Foreign Contribution Regulation Act 2010 which finally came into effect from 1st May was a hot draw among the participants. Mr. John Ravindran, a reputed chartered accountant was the resource person who spoke on the changes in the revised Act. Rev. John Kirubakaran, former General Secretary of Friends Missionary Prayer Band and Mr. Anand Joshua, World Vision head for Resource Mobilisation ably presented their respective organisation’s model of fundraising. Networking and Partnership was another new topic introduced by Mr. Bennet Emmanuel, editor of Christian Manager, who presented a wide framework on partnerships with practical case studies. Mr. J.S. Anbu the Executive Director of CIM led the sessions on Leadership at Work who with his skills in practical exercises led the participants to understand Christ-like leadership. Prof. S D Jeyakumar gave a clear picture on how to manage finance in an organisation. Few participants shared how the seminar equipped them with critical resources.

MANAGEMENT STUDY COURSES:

• Enrollment started for the Christian Management courses for the academic year 2011-12 – Apply early.

• Conducted contact classes for the various management courses (MA, PGDCM, MCM, DCM) for Semester II and Semester IV in New Delhi (May 3-6), Chennai (May 17-20) and Shillong (May 24-27). The New Delhi Contact Classes were facilitated by Mr. Paul Samuel, Mr. V. Satyamurti and Mr. G. Chidambaram. In Chennai, by CIM staff (Prof. Arul Mariyanathan, Prof. S. D. Jeyakumar, Mr. Collins, Mr. Bennet and Mr. Aby Alexandar). Martin Luther Christian University hosted the contact classes in Shillong. The faculties were Ms. Marina Marwein, Mr. Horeisung Khamrang, Ms. Larilin Kharpuri, Mr. Eladmiki Suting, Mr. Fabian and Mr. Aby Alexandar. The subjects dealt with were Management of Christian Services, Financial Management, Project Management, Organisation Management, Sociology, Management of Educational Institutions, Disaster Management, Communications and Financial Services.

• Preparations are progressing for the book on Indigenous Resource Mobilization (IRM).

CHRISTIAN MANAGER:
Since the Foreign Contribution Act 2010 was operational with effect from May 1st, the cover focus the new FCR ACT. Christian Manager readers will be the first to read a detailed analysis on the new changes in the legislature as many of them are in ministries which receive foreign funding. Two reputed senior financial experts have written on topic. Mr. M. Kandasami's interview is being featured in the issue along with a synopsis of the changes in the FCR Act 2010 which is written by Mr. Sanjay Patra.

New Executive Director of CIM: Mr. J.S. Anbu joined as the new Executive Director from June 2011. Mr. Anbu holds a Masters degree in Public Administration, served for 27 years in banking sector, and for five years as Area Manager and National Level Faculty for Haggai Institute. He has been a key resource person for CIM for the last 10 years and has worked with all the Directors of CIM closely and also part of the Administrative Committee of CIM for the last two years.
