PROSPECTUS – 2011
CHRISTIAN
INSTITUTE OF MANAGEMENT,
CHENNAI is
a national organisation imparting management education,
management training, organisational development, conducting
all-India management seminars etc. relevant to management of
Churches and Christian organisations of all denominations.
The MARTIN
LUTHER CHRISTIAN UNIVERSITY,
Shillong was established in 2005 by an Act of the Meghalaya
State Legislature and approved by UGC. The Governor of
Meghalaya is the Visitor.
CIM offers the
following Courses under self-study mode in association with the
Martin Luther Christian University, Shillong as its Practice
School.
COURSES
OFFERED:
1. M.A.
in Christian Management – (2 years/4 semesters)
2. PG
Diploma in Christian Management (1 year/2 semesters)
This being a self study programme, students can continue to work
and study at the same time.
OBJECTIVE OF
THE COURSES:
The main
objective of these courses is MANAGEMENT SKILL ENHANCEMNT of the
serving or aspiring Leaders to serve the Christian Institutions,
Churches, Missions, and NGOs. Christian organizations who are
desirous of improving knowledge and skill base of their staff
for a better performance may sponsor their staff to these
courses.
ELIGIBILITY:
Graduates in any discipline, including Theology (either ATA or
Serampore), from a Recognised University after the completion of
10+ 2 (or equivalent) years of Schooling.
MODE OF
DELIVERY:
1. The
courses are offered under Semester System and Self-Study mode.
Semester
1 & 3 will be from September to February; and Semester 2 & 4
will be from March to August.
2.
On payment of fees, all study materials for the semester will be
sent to the students.
3. Evaluation
of the students is done based on their performance in the
Internal Assessment and External Examinations in the ratio of
40:60 for a total of 100 marks in each subject. Internal
assessment consists of Evaluation of the Assignments, Attendance
in Contact Classes and timely Submission of Assignments.
4.
Assignment questions for the subjects of the semester will be
sent along with the study materials. It is open book examination
and students should send their answers within the time
stipulated. It will be valued for 100 marks and 30% of it will
be taken as Internal Assessment marks.
Each subject assignment submitted on time fetches five
incentive marks per subject.
5.
There will be coaching classes during every semester in
the months of November and May of each year. Actual dates will
be informed to the students well in advance so that the students
shall arrange for their travel up and down.
These classes will be held at Chennai, Delhi,
and at Martin Luther Christian University, Shillong. However,
the first semester contact classes would be held only in
Chennai. Full attendance at Coaching Classes will earn
FIVE incentive marks per subject.
6.
The External University
Examination i.e., Semester End examinations will be held each
semester in the months of February and August every year. Each
subject will be valued for 100 marks and 60% will be taken as
External Assessment marks.
7.
Marks for Assignments,
Attendance in Contact Classes, timely submission of Assignments
and Semester End Examinations will be computed in the ratio of
30:5:5:60 = 100 marks.
8.
The students will have to make
their own arrangement for their travel, board and lodging at
their own cost and CIM would be glad to help them in getting
their lodging facility if necessary for both the coaching
classes and Semester Examinations.
9.
Maximum time for completion of the course is Five years from
start of First Semester.
COURSE FEE:
The course fee
is Rs. 6,000 (Six Thousand) per semester, which is an all
inclusive fee (registration, course material, Semester end
examination and coaching class) for both the above courses. The
course fee may be paid in two installments (Rs. 3200 in first
installment and Rs. 3000 in second installment) every semester
within each semester. However in the first semester the total
amount of Rs. 6,000 has to be paid in single installment at the
time of admission.

COURSE CONTENT:
Based on the MBA pattern, the M.A Course has 16 subjects (each
subject consisting of an exam and an assignment, 100 marks per
subject) and a Project Work (200 marks) for a total of 1600
marks. The project work needs to be done by the students in the
fourth semester. However the students have the option of taking
two additional electives in lieu of the Project Work.
The subjects of first two semesters of MA programme will be the
subjects for PG Diploma.
Accordingly there would be a total of 8 subjects. There is no
Project Work in PG Diploma. However, they may rejoin the course
at a later stage and complete the 3rd and 4th
Semester subjects and become eligible for M.A. degree.

EVALUATION
1.
The
Internal assessment marks 40% and External Examination marks 60%
are taken to compute marks in each subject.
2. For
a pass, one should obtain minimum 50% both internal and external
put together.
3. Students
are advised to take up the External Semester End Examinations at
the regular Semester. If not, they will be permitted to appear
for that examination in the subsequent chance only on payment of
Rs.250/- as arrear examination Fees per subject.
4. Results
in subject will be declared only if the candidate submits the
assignments and appears for the External examinations. A
consolidated transcript – Marks Statement will be issued by the
University on the completion of all requirements i.e.,
submission of all assignments; appearance in all semester end
examinations; submission of the Project Report.
5. Final
result will be graded as :

APPLICATION
PROCEDURE:
Application forms may be obtained from CIM on payment of
Rs.250/- towards registration charges by Cash/MO, or DD payable
at Chennai favouring ‘Christian Institute of Management’ at the
address given below. Applications forms are also available with
The Registrar, Martin Luther Christian University, Shillong,
Meghalaya on payment of the above charges.
The Application is to be sent fully completed with copies of
transcript (Mark Statement) and degree obtained and three
passport size photos along with Semester I fees to reach CIM
latest by 31st July 2011.
Candidates may also complete the application form through CIM
website “www.cimindia.in” and separately send the registration
charge of Rs.250/- along with other required details for
completing the application process.

OTHER ACADEMIC PROGRAMMES:

MASTER OF CHRISTIAN MANAGEMENT -
CIM also offers Masters in Christian Management
certified by Christian Institute of Management. Admission is
open to all with Five year Ministry Experience. The fee of the
Programme is Rs. 4000 per semester. The duration, subjects,
evaluation and other procedures would be same as that of M.A in
Christian Management.
2.
DIPLOMA IN CHRISTIAN MANAGEMENT-
This Diploma programme too is certified by
Christian Institute of Management. Admission is open to all with
Five year Ministry Experience. The fee of the Programme is Rs.
4000 per semester. The duration, subjects, evaluation and other
procedures would be same as that of P. G. Diploma in Christian
Management.
3.
CERTIFICATE IN CHRISTIAN MANAGEMENT –
Offered in association with Bible Colleges/
Training Institutes. Bilingual and interactive and easy to
conduct. Certified by Christian Institute of Management.
