Feedback and experience of students on
MA ‘Christian Management’

From 1st to 3rd February 2007, a batch of students of MA Master in Christian Management ran the last lap of the fifth and final Semester, on the Campus of Martin Luther Christian University at Shillong, Meghalaya (the abode of clouds!)

The three days were spent in Semester-end Seminars, examinations as well as the Viva Voce for the projects submitted by the students. The breaks and evenings saw the students exchanging news and views of the road they had traveled from the First Semester, spiced with many an account the challenges they faced, the lovable idiosyncrasies of faculty members and how in retrospect they all felt it is worth the while. Befittingly on the last day the students attended Communion Service at All Saints Church, Shillong, before their journeys home, where they had the privilege of meeting the Dy. Moderator and Bishop of CNI , N Eastern Diocese, Rt. Rev. Purely Lyngdoh.

Some excerpts of the comments and feedback are:

“Despite my busy work schedule I have no regrets for all the effort I had to put in to complete this Course. This has already given me new perspectives in managing the Tyndale-Biscoe Mallison schools in Kashmir. I strongly recommend that all Christian leaders should undertake this study to be more effective Managers”.

Mr. Parwez Samuel Kaul, Correspondent & Principal, Tyndale-Biscoe Mallison Schools, Kashmir.

“Though many subjects were new and initially difficult, I thoroughly enjoyed the course contents. One should appreciate the patience and strictness with which the faculty conducted the entire programme. I am sure this Course will help me to realize my dream of helping the Christian Community in my native State of Maharashtra.”

Ms. Pratima Yadhav, Teacher and Faculty at YWAM, Pune, Maharashtra.

“This is not a Course for those who want to take it easy or the weak hearted. One has to sincerely apply effort to gain the advantage of the wonderful course contents that have holistically covered every aspect of Management: HR, Finance, Law, Marketing, Project management et al, always maintaining the Biblical and Christian context with present day requirements. Even when I went abroad the Notes were sent to be by E-Mail and I continued my studies and preparations even when out of the country.”

Mr. Madhusudhan Christian, CEO Sandesh Ministries, Ahmedabad, Gujarat.

“I can never forget the encouragement I received from the Management and faculty of CIM, whenever I had difficulties either with lessons or with scheduling my visits to the Semester-end Seminars or if I was ill. Often CIM staff used to pray for each of the students and that gave me a lot of spiritual strength and encouragement. After all the effort I am also happy that this will be a recognized degree awarded by the Martin Luther Christian University, Shillong, Meghalaya.”

Sr. Greta D’Souza, Principal, Jesus and Mary Convent School, Mussoorie, Uttaranchal.

“The Semester-end Seminars are particularly helpful to have focused preparation for the exams. I thank God that I had not missed a single such session. The hospitality of the CIM faculty and staff, though they were strict, is something I cherish. Every Christian Organisation should plan for their executives to attend the programme. I am grateful to my organization Christian Mission Services (CMS) and our Administrator for having sponsored me and three of my colleagues for this course.”

Ms. Mary Rose Bai, Principal, CMS Training Centre, Nagercoil, Tamil Nadu.

“My job as a Hostel warden at CMS, does not facilitate studying at regular full time classes. Hence I am grateful to CMS and our Administrator for having sponsored me and three others for this Self-study programme. Now I have more confidence to deal with situations at the work place on my own initiative. Surely knowledge is power, and it can be used to serve our organizations in a better manner.”

Mr. Devaraj, Warden, CMS Hostel, Guntur, A.P.

“I confess, completing the Post Graduate level MA programme was not easy, especially after losing touch with student days. Yet, the MA Christian Management self-study programme of the Martin Luther Christian University, Shillong, conducted by CIM, Chennai was flexible enough to accommodate our work situations and demands. One has to take one’s own efforts and not expect to be spoon fed. As Christian leaders one should not expect to have it easy. I feel the Course challenges one to give of one’s best. I really am glad to have completed the course and I am sorry for those who discontinued. They should resume their programme, because they will not have such a flexible, systematic programme or such cooperative staff and faculty as they have at CIM. I have managed despite two visits to China on Mission work recently.”

Mr. KC Gilchrist, Hindi Bible Ministries, Jharkand.

“What has a media studio got to do with Christian Management”? was the thought I had when I first dabbled with the idea of doing this programme. Having got into it, there was no looking back. Even when I was tempted to give up, or had arrears, the reminder phone calls from the CIM faculty, the encouragement, the prayers (and the prodding too) convinced me carry on. Particularly, I now enjoy going through the Course contents like a reference Manual even at work situations. My Project was on ‘Managing a Media Studio Profitably’. Through the same I got new ideas and insights and now I realize how much value there is in the programme. Now I feel I should have taken more efforts, but that’s OK. The fees are I declare very nominal and this is certainly value for money.”

Mr. Solomon Philip, owner Media Studios, Chennai, Tamil Nadu.
