As the landscape of income tax regulations continues to evolve, staying informed is crucial, especially for Non-Profit Organisations (NPOs) and Non-Governmental Organisations (NGOs). With the motive of the Latin phrase, "Ignorantia juris non excusat" which means “ignorance of the law is no excuse”, in mind, CIM recently wrapped up the Income Tax Seminar Series, aimed at helping NPOs navigate these changes and enhance their compliance processes and in creating general awareness in taxes and financial sector.
Each session covered critical topics, including understanding the significance Finance Bill 2025 for organisations, and later the New Income Tax Law: Delving into the practical implications for NPOs. And finally, the Renewal of 12AB Certification.
Participants were engaged in examining compliance essentials and identifying the red flags to avoid. The Q&A sessions proved as a valuable platform for learning and discussion, allowing attendees to address specific concerns.
The enthusiasm and participation were remarkable, reflecting the pressing need for knowledge in the nonprofit sector. Attendees expressed that the insights gained have empowered them to re-evaluate their compliance processes, making them better prepared for audits and renewals.
The introduction of the Finance Bill 2025 and new income tax laws has significant implications for NPOs and individuals. The seminars assisted the participants in understanding these shifts. The seminar series travelled across five cities, bringing together finance teams, administrative heads, and organisational leaders. The CIM’s resource person, CA Vijay Ponneri, handled the sessions at Hyderabad on April 10, at Shillong on May 07 and on May 9th at Guwahati. Later, on May 15th, CA Joshitha Jothi conducted the seminar in Chennai.
CIM wishes to deliver its gratitude to all the resource persons, event coordinators and participants who contributed to the success of this seminar series. Together, we are better equipped to navigate the complex world of income tax regulations and ensure our organisations thrive in compliance. The final session is planned to be held in Mumbai on June 13, where CA Manju George will share her insights.
