The pursuit of excellence is a highly desirable quality in any leader / emerging leader. The level of excellence one possesses differentiates a highly impactful leader from other leaders. Excellence is deliberated about often in different forums on varied fields, and management is no exception. 

Dr. Prateep V. Philip (former DGP, Tamil Nadu), who coined the term ‘Excenomics’ (the law/science of excellence), a concept that integrates excellence into every facet of personal and professional life, believes that it can reshape the future of business and organisations. This comprehensive framework encompasses personal achievement, corporate performance, design innovation and quality standards. This approach helps one to delve deep into various aspects of excellence, enhancing one’s quality of life. 

Drawing insights from the Greek word Arete, which means well-rounded Godly excellence, Finny Philip takes us deeper into the Biblical understanding of excellence. He elaborates on the concept by quoting Peter’s exhortation to believers to develop excellence (II Peter 1:5). He says believers must move away from mediocrity and inferior/substandard work, and be effective participants in what God is doing in the world.

CIM envisions everyone to achieve a ‘Biblical level of management excellence’. The standards of excellence that we hold should far exceed that of legal compliance requirements or even organisational effectiveness. We are ambassadors of the One who has called us to live out the virtue of excellence, in all facets of our life. If we accomplish that, we will become effective witnesses in a challenging world.
