“Education starts in the womb and ends in the tomb”
This is a commonly used expression, indicating the lifelong nature of learning. The era of four-year courses is over; today it is about forty-year courses! Continuous adult learning is essential to ensure that we do not get stuck at what we learned in the past but would continue to upskill and reskill with the changing times.
It is the duty of organizations to ensure that they would create opportunities to upgrade the staff competencies, in the ever-evolving circumstances. Once learning becomes a culture within the organisation, the entity turns to be learning organisation.
Amidst His busy schedules, Jesus often took time off to engage in active conversations with His disciples to ensure that they learn. He taught them through life lessons and parables (Lk.9:1-6, Lk.8:11). He often involved in intense discussions with the disciples (John Chapters 14-16). In Acts 19, we see that Paul took his disciples to the hall of Tyrannus and had active discourses with them, which continued for almost two years. His disciples were empowered to such an extent that ‘all the Jews and Greeks who lived in the province of Asia heard the word of the Lord’ (Acts 19:10).
Unfortunately, many of the nonprofit organisations today don’t prioritize staff capacity building. They are too engaged in fulfilling their ministerial activities that they often ignore the one who is doing the ministry. This is evidenced in the fact that only a few NPOs have an earmarked budget for staff capacity building.
CIM enhances the capacities of the staff and the organisation as a whole, so that they will be able to fulfil their vision in an excellent way. CIM engages in the ministry of empowerment through various interventions including, training, courses, consultancy and publications.
Let’s make sure that each staff has the opportunity to enhance their skills towards personal development, as well as organisational vision fulfilment.
